Preparations complete, its time to say goodbye!

7th February 2013

For the last two weeks a team of friends and experts have been making the final preparations at Base Camp to make sure everything is ready for Sir Ranaulph Fiennes and his 6 man ice team's incredible expedition to be the first to ever cross Antarctica in winter.

Having donated the container 'caboose's' that will be used as a science laboratory and living quarters, Urban Space Management (CONTAINER CITY) Ltd Founder Eric Reynolds has been on hand to help fit the insulated covers and load them onto their giant sledges that will be pulled behind the expedition for the duration of their journey.

Performing well during the tests out on the ice, the time has now come for Eric and the support team to leave Crown Bay on the SA Agulhas leaving the ice team on their own with only the thoughts of the challenge ahead

We are delighted to be able to support the world's greatest living explorer, Sir Ranualph Fiennes and his talented team in the hope that they will be complete the last great polar challenge for such a wonderful cause.

The 2,000 mile trek across the continent begins in March and is seeking to raise $10 million for Seeing is Believing, an international initiative to tackle avoidable blindness as well as collecting key data to help us understand the effects of climate change.

We will keep you updated on their progress here but to find out more about the expedition or to donate check out the official expedition website
