Rathbone Market news

17th October 2016

Urban Space Management recently found a new operator for Rathbone Market in Canning Town. With a tight timetable USM contacted a range of market operators to discuss this role. Tudor Markets came out as the best fit and took over the market on the 1st October 2016 with aims to increase stall holder numbers and improve footfall through the market.

Duncan Cumberland, Director of English Cities Fund, commented:

‘‘This is great news for Rathbone Market and great news for Canning Town. We have already invested heavily in providing new equipment, public realm and lighting for the market square, and it is important for our development that the market continues to flourish. We are really impressed with Tudor’s pedigree and record elsewhere, and with their help Rathbone Market will go from strength to strength.’’

Danny Watson, Managing Director of Tudor Markets, added:

‘‘With its proud heritage and huge potential, Rathbone is exactly the kind of market we envisaged managing when we set up Tudor Markets. We want the market to be a vibrant part of the Canning Town community; we have a number of plans to increase trade and footfall and I look forward to exploring these with traders and residents.’’
